A week of November and so many things going on!
In the aftermath of Sandy, my family not only lost power... they lost it for six days, getting it back on that Sunday evening. I, however, moved back to school on Tuesday because we thought we would have classes, alas, Sandy proved to be worse than all thought and our classes were cancelled for the rest of the week. Cabin fever began striking soon after. I was optimistic about the time we had off--I was able to do a lot of work! I got a paper done, some readings, did part of a project (that I now only have to type up) and was able to concentrate on some of the smaller activities that our professors assign us throughout the semester. Things like case studies, short ancillary readings and other things were finished and I got to working on my own personal projects, like the fellowship group, Mustard Seeds, that I run on Sunday evenings.
Following the insane week, we were back at school on Monday. That was strange. It was like we were living in an alternate universe. I had Psychiatric Nursing, an Organic Chemistry examination, and Business Dimensions of Healthcare, which I floated through. Literally floated through. It was almost impossible to really pay attention because I hadn't been sleeping well and was exhausted. It was difficult, to be back at school discussing individual responses to crises situations when so many were suffering in Sandy's wake. Thankfully, my university decided to provide a Sandy Help Hotline for our students and their families to utilize for needs. And we all received numerous e-mails from our professors asking us whether or not we were safe, warm and okay.
And then they told us they weren't changing the syllabus despite so many people still not having power.
I went home on Monday night to vote Tuesday morning and watched election coverage, but that's another post in and of itself, so I'll continue that elsewhere and then with this storm and the snow, many of our night classes and clinicals were cancelled.
It's all so insane. I feel as if I'm in a daze.
I don't even know what I'm writing.
The world is put back by the death of every one who has to sacrifice the development of his or her peculiar gifts to conventionality.

The First of November
And we've come to November 1st.
I don't know what else to say about that.
Thanksgiving is only 21 days away and between now and then, there's so much work for me to do. I can't even deal with it.
Wishing for the best, the coming weekend's gonna be busy!
Stay warm. Stay dry. Stay safe.
